Since then, the company has grown to become an industry leader in the UK and global fish markets. Sustainable seafood is central to the business, and providing the nation with the highest quality, responsibly sourced seafood is its number one priority. Following its acquisition, Flatfish is now part of the £5bn turnover Japan-based Nissui Corporation.

Flatfish operated a highly successful business-to-business (B2B) model in the UK. However, the company wanted to explore the market opportunity for delivery of its award-winning fish directly to consumers.

Flatfish appointed PureNet as consultants to perform this market assessment. PureNet provided an initial consultancy stage that evaluated the fish home delivery market space and identified potential competitors. One of these competitors, Regal Fish, was acquired on the back of PureNet’s recommendations. Subsequently, PureNet performed a second round of consultancy to assess the internal systems, IT architecture and processes and procedures to provide an integrated ecommerce-based fish home delivery platform.
